Head Coach - Andrew Anctil C.D.

Retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after almost 15 years his style of coaching is direct, simple, and focused on a mastery of the basics. He has led many athletes to advanced and elite performances injury free. 


Andrew started powerlifting in 2012. His best meet performances are a 635lbs Squat (all Canadian national record), a 345lbs Bench press and a 640lbs deadlift in the 165lbs weight class.  


He has consistently been at the top of his weight class in Canada. Winning several provincial titles and best lifters placings in most his meets he was awarded Canadian Army Male athlete of the year in 2018. He is a CPL official and Quebec Chairman for the federation.


He is co-owner of South Shore Iron Gym which he founded in 2019. Having grown his athlete roster, he hopes to elevate a team of lifters as professional athletes and grow the sport by hosting quality events and providing sponsorships to those in need.

Team Manager - Valerie Leone M.sc

Valerie began her powerlifting journey in 2017. She immediately demonstrated the work ethic of a dedicated seasoned athlete. She went on to sweep meet after meet putting up incredible performances with her signature squat as her main strength. She is the current Squat record holder at 114lbs and top 2 in the 123lbs. Her current competition lifts stand at 413lbs Squat, 204lbs Bench, and a 419lbs deadlift. 


Valerie is an accomplished woman in all spheres of her life; she hold a bachelors degrees in psychology, a masters in criminology, and was a doctoral student for 2 years before reorienting her career. She is a Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces where she serves as a personnel selection's officer. She is also a qualified CPL official, where she co-chairs the Quebec Province with Andrew. She co founded the SSI gym in 2019.


Her current aspirations are to keep raising the bar for her athletic performances as well as grow her businesses and branding. She also has a passion for baking sweets and pastries!

Coach - Kyle Hoss

 

Kyle  is a devoted Coach who holds a lifelong passion for fitness and sport. A  Fitness and Health Promotion graduate and current Human Kinetics major,  Kyle is a firm believer in continuous education in order to better  serve his clients. In recent years, he has leaned heavily into the  nutritional component of exercise science through organizations such as  J3U and RP Nutrition in addition to his studies through the University. 


To  compliment his academic background, Kyle also enjoys equipping himself  with as much practical experience as possible. Hailing from a  multi-sport background, Kyle has been a National level track and field  athlete, a CPF/CPL National Champion in Powerlifting, a WPC World silver  medallist in Powerlifting, and a National level bodybuilder working  towards a Pro Qualification.


During  his 6 year tenure as a trainer and coach, Kyle has been fortunate  enough to work with a myriad of clients from all walks of life. Whether  it be body composition adjustment, strength and conditioning,  competition prep, longevity, or simply furthering fitness for the sake  of personal enjoyment, Kyle takes pride in delivering clients to goals  of all kinds!

Sports Therapist - Alvin Jiang

  Alvin is a registered massage therapist certified with the AMQ. He specializes in sports massage, injury treatment/prevention, and deep tissue work. He is also certified in cupping, therapeutic treatments, swedish massages, and lymphatic drainage. 


Passionate about fitness, he started trained in both bodybuilding and powerlifting at the age of 15. He has profound knowledge on the therapy requirements needed to continually perform as an athlete and develops treatment plan for every individual need.


Proactive Massothérapie was founded in March 2022, the motto is to take a proactive approach to your own recovery! 


Alvin founded Proactive Massothérapie to be able to share his passion for massage therapy, and to highlight the importance of recovery; in the maintenance of a healthy physical body.
